The Garmin nüvi 360 GPS Navigator and Personal Travel Assistant is a GPS navigator, personal translator, multi-media entertainer and tour guide all wrapped into one. In addition to all the advanced features of the Garmin nüvi 350 — including automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, an MP3 player and audio book player, JPEG picture viewer, and much more — this pocket-sized personal travel assistant comes with hands-free Bluetooth wireless technology, making it the hands-down go-anywhere travel companion.

Make Hands-Free Calls
The nüvi 360 integrates wireless technology with a microphone and speaker that lets you make hands-free mobile phone calls using your compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone. Simply dial numbers with the nüvi’s touch screen keypad to place a call, and to answer calls, just tap the screen and speak directly into its built-in microphone.

In addition, you can easily look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or from your phone’s call history log. Don’t know the phone number for your destination? Simply find and dial it from nüvi’s database of more than six million points of interest — including hotels, restaurants, stores, and attractions.

Navigation and Entertainment with Ease
For starters, the nüvi 360 includes a high-sensitivity integrated GPS receiver that offers exceptional performance and reception. The unit’s flip-up antenna includes an MCX-type connector for optional external GPS antenna connection. Preloaded software features maps of Europe or North America, and it includes automatic routing, 2D or 3D map perspective, turn-by-turn voice directions that speak street names, and a fingertip touch screen interface — making navigation as easy as it gets.

Garmin Portable Friction Dashboard Mount for Nüvi Series and StreetPilot I Series, C530, C550 and C580 GPS Navigators

This mount works great. The selection of Garmin mounts is confusing as some are two parts and some are one. If you have a Nuvi with the included windshield mount, then this is the only part you need to buy. The included mount disassembles at the ball and socket joint and attaches to this one. I can’t say it will never come off the dash if I do some really high speed maneuver, but so far it’s held steady for all regular driving.

Amazon Kindle Reader

The good: Excellent high-contrast screen does a great job of simulating a printed page; large library of tens of thousands of e-books, newspapers, magazines, and blogs via Amazon’s familiar online store; built-in free wireless “Whispernet” data network–no PC needed; built-in keyboard for notes; SD card expansion slot; compatible with Windows and Mac machines.

The bad: Design is ergonomic, but not very elegant; pricing for nearly all the content seems too high, especially considering the periodicals and blogs are available for free online; black-and-white screen is fine for books, but less impressive for periodicals and Web content; lacks a true Web browser; included cover is clumsy and poorly designed; additional file formats need to be e-mailed to Amazon for conversion; yet another dedicated device you’ll need to lug around with you.

The bottom line: With its free built-in wireless capabilities and PC-free operation, Amazon’s Kindle holds a distinct advantage over Sony’s Reader and is a promising evolution of the electronic book–but Amazon needs to bring down the pricing for both the device and the content to attract a wider audience.

The Last Lecture (Kindle Edition)

Ive followed Prof. Pausch since his Last Lecture at UVa. I’ve watched every video on every event. I have followed him not because of his disease, but because of his thought-provoking (and entertaining) presentation. So, I bought this great little book, not knowing what I was getting into.

The book hit me right between the eyes. The premise is simple; the realization of childhood dreams. I’d been so busy with the day-to-day, I forgot about how wonderful my childhood dreams were. I forgot I even had childhood dreams. Prof. Pausch’s descriptions of the “influencer’s” in his life reminded me of my own. Reading his descriptions of the events in his upbringing brought back wonderful memories of my own upbringing. We are a couple of years apart in age so we grew up in 70’s.

Prof. Pausch’s book has uncorked all kinds of emotions from my childhood. Emotions and feelings long-lost in the rush-rush of days, months, and years. He states he wrote this for his children as a memoir and guiding lesson’s. I’m glad he did. This book made me realize there are people and events I’ve taken for granted, and/or forgotten. This book put me back in touch with some great people and events from my past.

I think since he wrote this book for his lovely children, it’s not about terminal illness, treatment, or eventualities. It’s about life. Life lived full with all the good, and the not so good. It’s about dreams realized, and dreams not realized. It’s about embracing the simpler things, the things that really matter. This book was great for me. I’m grateful to Prof. Pausch for having written a lovely account of the importance of childhood dreams.

This is the best book Ive read in quite some time. It’s the story of a very interesting man with a great take on life. A man deeply committed to his family, friends, and colleague’s. I guarantee when you read it you’ll uncover your own small forgotten treasures.

Grand Theft Auto IV review, perfect 10 from 10

Stepping off a boat in the shoes of illegal immigrant Niko Bellic as he arrives in Liberty City at the start of Grand Theft Auto IV, you can tell immediately that Rockstar North’s latest offering is something quite special. Yes, this is another GTA game in which you’ll likely spend the bulk of your time stealing cars and gunning down cops and criminals, but it’s also much more than that. GTAIV is a game with a compelling and nonlinear storyline, a game with a great protagonist who you can’t help but like, and a game that boasts a plethora of online multiplayer features in addition to its lengthy story mode. It’s not without some flaws, but GTAIV is undoubtedly the best Grand Theft Auto yet.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Wii)

You wouldn’t have been wrong to come into Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock with some sense of trepidation. With original Guitar Hero developer Harmonix off the project and Tony Hawk creators Neversoft now on board, it would be fair to wonder if anything that made the wildly popular rhythm game franchise so awesome would be lost in the shuffle. The good news is that Guitar Hero III is Guitar Hero through and through. The core gameplay that fans love hasn’t changed outside of some basic tweaks, and the long and varied tracklist is the best of any game in the series to date. If there are any chinks in the armor of this sequel, it’s that some of the newer mode additions and a few odd design decisions do more to get in the way of the fun than anything else. Likewise, the extreme difficulty of some of the game’s more severe songs might end up turning off newer players. Those issues aside, it’s hard to argue with what Guitar Hero III offers from a content perspective, especially if you’re a longtime fan of the franchise.
